Every guest asks us the same question at the start of a booking: “Where is the best place to stay in Gdańsk?” The answer depends on one thing — what you are planning to do during your stay. Below we break down the 3 districts where we have apartments to their essential elements.

Seaside Letnica — beach, matches, and fairs all in one

The entire coastal zone of Gdańsk — Brzeźno to the west and Letnica around the stadium. Here you have the beach, Polsat Plus Arena, AmberExpo, and Galeria Metropolia. Five minutes on foot to the pier, two minutes to Reagan Park, 25 minutes by tram to Sopot. The stadium is within walking distance.

Choose Seaside Letnica if:

• you are coming between May and September and want to hear the sea before you sleep,
• you have a ticket for a Lechia match or a concert at Polsat Plus Arena,
• you are attending a trade fair at AmberExpo,
• you want a holiday atmosphere with good transport connections.

In summer, restaurant tables on the promenade are hard to come by in the evenings — it is worth booking in advance. In winter Brzeźno is quieter and melancholy in a pleasant way, but walks along the bay in cold crisp air have their own charm. Letnica is lively year-round whenever there is an event at the stadium.

Bastion Wałowa — history in every brick wall

The Bastion Wałowa apartments sit in the literal heart of the city — you can see the historic fortifications from the window, and Long Market is a 5-minute walk. Ideal for guests visiting for the first time and focused on sightseeing.

What to do here: ECS (European Solidarity Centre), Museum of the Second World War, Amber Museum, St. Mary’s Basilica, restaurants on Mariacka Street and the Long Waterfront. Best way to end the evening: one of the bars at the Coal Market.

DOKI — for foodies and culture

DOKI is the most exciting neighbourhood in Gdańsk in 2026. Post-industrial lofts, a food hall with cuisines from around the world, a music club in a former power station, ECS right next door. The atmosphere of Berlin-Neukölln at Tricity scale.

Choose DOKI if your evenings are going to be built around good food, art in unexpected spaces, and short evening strolls along the Motława. The refurbished Shipyard is an entirely new experience.

Which apartment to which destination? Travel times

Choosing a neighbourhood is often about logistics — what you need to visit and how much time you want to spend travelling. We have compiled travel times from each of our locations to the key points of interest:

• To the beach (Brzeźno): Seaside Letnica → 5 min on foot, Bastion Wałowa → 20 min by tram 3/5 + walk, DOKI → 25 min by tram.
• To Polsat Plus Arena (stadium / concerts): Seaside Letnica → 10 min on foot, DOKI → 20 min by tram 6, Bastion Wałowa → 18 min by tram 7/8.
• To Old Town (Long Market): Bastion Wałowa → 3 min on foot, DOKI → 10 min on foot via the Royal Route, Seaside Letnica → 15–20 min by tram 3/5.
• To AmberExpo (trade fairs): Seaside Letnica → 10 min on foot, DOKI → 15 min by tram, Bastion Wałowa → 20 min by tram.
• To the European Solidarity Centre (ECS): DOKI → 5 min on foot, Bastion Wałowa → 10 min on foot, Seaside Letnica → 15 min by tram.
• To Galeria Metropolia (shopping centre): Seaside Letnica → 5 min on foot, DOKI → 15 min by tram, Bastion Wałowa → 20 min by tram.
• To Galeria Bałtycka (Wrzeszcz): from all districts approx. 20 min by tram or SKM — no district has a clear advantage.

If you have several types of activities planned, the travel time to each of them accumulates throughout the stay. A couple spending 4 days in Gdańsk with a planned match, Old Town sightseeing, and a beach day — choosing the wrong neighbourhood wastes 2–3 hours of unnecessary journeys.

What to choose on your first visit to Gdańsk?

There is no single right answer, but we have a tried-and-tested heuristic:

• Short weekend (2–3 days), sightseeing priority → Bastion Wałowa — everything within walking distance: Long Market, St. Mary’s Basilica, ECS, restaurants on Mariacka Street. No trams during the day.
• Stay of 5+ days with children or in summer → Seaside Letnica — beach on the doorstep, stadium close by, more spacious apartments with parking. The centre is by tram, but you do not need to go there every day.
