Parking in Gdańsk — where to park in the centre without overpaying

You’re driving into Gdańsk and the first question is: where do you leave the car? The Old Town is all narrow streets and a paid zone, and in high season the spaces by the beach are gone by morning. Here’s the practical rundown — zone by zone, no waffle.

The Paid Parking Zone (SPP) — the heart of the city

Almost all of the Main Town and Old Town falls within the Paid Parking Zone. The rules worth knowing:

• When it’s chargeable: usually on weekdays during daytime hours (roughly 9:00–18:00). Evenings, weekends and public holidays are most often free — but always check the ticket machine and the sign, because zone boundaries and hours do change.
• How to pay: at a ticket machine (card/BLIK) or via an app — mobiParking, SkyCash, moBiLET. The app is handier, because you pay for exactly the time you stay.
• The catch: the first hour is the most expensive (rates climb progressively), so SPP is fine for a quick stop but not so much for a whole day.

Multi-storey car parks — easiest for a full day

If you’re exploring the centre, the least stressful option is a covered multi-level car park:

• Forum Gdańsk (by the Gdańsk Śródmieście station) — vast, underground, right in the middle of the city.
• Targ Sienny / Targ Rakowy — a few minutes’ walk from Długi Targ.
• Galeria Bałtycka (Wrzeszcz) — when you’re staying around Wrzeszcz.

Rates run roughly 4–6 zł for the first hour, with a daily cap — worth it for a longer stay.

Park & Ride — leave the car, hop on a tram

The cheapest way into the centre: leave the car at a Park & Ride car park by a tram loop or SKM station on the outskirts, then take public transport in. Parking at your apartment — the most stress-free option

The easiest of all is when a space is waiting for you right at your apartment. Some of our flats come with a spot in a garage hall or an assigned parking space — you park once and forget about ticket machines for the whole stay. That’s especially valuable at Bastion Wałowa (5 minutes to the Main Town) and at DOKI (Młode Miasto).

Where NOT to park

• In no-parking spots around Długi Targ — this is a heavily monitored area; fines and towing are very real.
• For “just a moment” without a ticket in the SPP — checks are frequent, and the penalty charge stings more than a ticket would.
• In loading bays and disabled spaces — towing guaranteed.
